MVC W/ MULTIPLE ENTRAPMENT

At 0244 hours, Companies 50 (Middletown), 54 (Lenni Heights) and M104-7 (Riddle Medics) were dispatched to the area of Glen Riddle Rd and Wright Lane for a Motor vehicle accident. M104-7 arrived and found a one car accident. The vehicle overturned and was leaning against a tree hanging over a 5 foot ditch with a stream running through it. One subject was ejected and three subjects were still trapped. Rescue 54 arrived and began to size-up the scene and begin stabilization while Chief 50-9 arrived and established command. 3 additonal BLS and ALS were called bringing 69-7, 69-7A, M45-7, M23 and M100A. 50 Command also special called Rescue 72 due to the complex nature of the entrapment. Rescue 72 responded with a full crew of 6 plus 2 more in the Command vehicle. The two Rescue companies along with Co 50's Engine crews worked to stabilize the car, remove the passenger side rear door and B post and flap the roof down. Once access had been made, all 3 occupants were removed. A medical helicopter was placed on standby but was recalled as Crozer accepted all 4 patients. 697/M100A, 697A/M23, M457 and M104-7 all transported trauma alerts to CCMC. Units operating on scene were:RE72, Command72, E50-2, 50-8, RE54, Tac54, M104-7, 697,697A, M23, M457, M100A, PSP, Brookhaven PD.

 
   
   
ROLLING HIILL IND. PARK BUILDING FIRE

The box alarm assignment was dispatched to 8 Crozerville Road in the Rolling Hills Industrial Park for a Commercial Building Fire. While in route Fire Board advised Incident Commander D. Montana 72-9B, that Police on location reported Heavy Smoke showing and that all Firefighters should Don SCBA equipment due to Hazardous Materials within the Building. Engine 72 under the Command of Lieutenant A. Kissel, Laid approximately 500 feet of 5" hose to the scene and advanced an 1 3/4" hoseline inside the structure. The fire, involving the room and contents of a Locker room, was quickly extinguished by the handline crew of P. Ottaviani, C. Bucci and Lt. Kissel using tank water. The large building was charged with smoke. The crew from Truck 63 under the command of D/C D. Evans, Laddered the roof, checked for fire extension and started Building Ventilation using PPV fans. Engine 71-2 under the command of A/C J. Ward took the hydrant and prepared to Charge the 5" line. Engine 54's crew assisted with building ventilation. The crews from Truck 69, Co. 50 and Tower 59 applied a manpower pool and assisted with returning the apparatus to service. Units remained on scene for apprx. 1 hour.

 
MVC-ASTON MILLS RD.

At approx 1540 hours Company and 2nd ambulance 72, Co. 63 and M100A were dispatched to the 800 blk of Aston Mills Rd for an accident w/ a vehicle into pole. Upon arrival of Rescue 72 and Chief 72 (R. Walker III), the crews stabilized one vehicle and began to prepare for extrication. The crew from RE72 made access via the drivers door and extricated the lone occupant out and up a steep snow covered embankment. The crew then carried the patient through the yard down to the street where he was transferred to 72-7 for transport to CCMC w/ M100A. Crews were then placed available by Chief 72. Prior to this accident, Amb 72-7A was on location at an accident in Chester Heights with a vehicle into a pole which split in half. The driver was transported to RMH for minor injuries.
